A field of windmills against a hazy blue sky.

Department of Civil, Environmental, and Ocean Engineering

Speaker: James D. Heeren, PE, ENV SP, Associate Vice President, Department Manager, Dewberry

ABSTRACT

Transportation infrastructure projects are increasingly evaluated using structured sustainability frameworks. One such framework is the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s Envision Sustainability Rating System, which provides criteria for assessing sustainability performance across infrastructure projects. This presentation will provide an overview of the Envision system, discuss experiences applying the 64 Envision credits to transportation projects, and highlight challenges associated with specific credits.
