ABSTRACT
This seminar will describe what a Bridge Construction Engineer is, his or her role in the construction process and the technical engineering requirements to build a bridge. It will present construction methods as well as the oftentimes complicated and challenging engineering required to facilitate bridge construction. The presentation will also describe the overall design and construction process from conception, bidding and finally construction.
BIOGRAPHY
Michael H. Marks, PE is Founder and Principal of EIC Group LLC , providing construction engineering services to major heavy highway and bridge contractors throughout the northeast. He is experienced in developing structural designs for new steel and concrete bridges, bridge rehabilitation, bridge jacking and lifting, bridge erection plans, demolition plans, sheet pile retaining walls, and temporary structures. He serves on the AASHTO Steel Bridge Erection Guide Specification Committee, past Chairman of the New Jersey Professional Engineers in Construction, presented numerous projects at the International Bridge Conference, and published various articles in trade publications. Michael has a BS in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University and a MS in Structural Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge MA. He is licensed in eleven (11) states.
