Stevens requires that all undergraduate students, International students, and all full-time graduate students to have health insurance, and will charge health insurance every start semester and subsequent Fall semesters. Waiver & Open Enrollment Deadlines

2020-2021 Academic Year:

  • August 31, 2020 - Undergraduate Students
  • September 15, 2020 - Graduate Students.
  • February 16, 2021 - Spring admits and students who opted for the fall only waiver

Failure to waive the health insurance by the deadline will result in automatic enrollment in the Stevens Student Health Insurance Plan and the student's account will be charged accordingly.

Students will not be able to enroll in the health insurance plan after these deadlines unless there is a qualifying event that makes them eligible to enroll.  For additional information regarding enrollment, please contact University Health Plans at 800-437-6448.

Waiver Form 

Students with proof of comparable coverage are eligible to waive the Stevens Student Health Insurance Plan. To opt-out:

  • Please visit University Health Plans
  • Select Undergraduate or Graduate
  • On the left-hand side menu choose Waiver Form
  • Fill in the required information and complete the form; you will immediately receive a confirmation of your waiver.  Print a copy for your personal records. An email confirmation will also be sent for your records.
  • Please allow 5 business days for the waiver to be applied to your eBilling account.

Enrollment Form 

If you do not wish to waive the Stevens Student Health Insurance Plan, University Health Plans will send you instructions to access your card, after the waiver deadline for the semester.  To expedite the receipt of your insurance card you can complete an enrollment form:

  • Please visit University Health Plans
  • Select Undergraduate or Graduate
  • On the left-hand side, menu choose Enrollment Form and then Full-time Student Enrollment Form
  • Fill in the required information and complete the form; you will immediately receive a confirmation of your enrollment request.  Print a copy for your personal records. An email confirmation will also be sent for your records.
  • Your enrollment will be processed by University Health Plans after the minimum required enrollment is certified.
  • Part-time domestic Graduate students are not automatically enrolled in the Stevens Student Health Insurance Plan but are eligible to enroll directly with University Health Plans. Coverage is also available for the spouse and children of students and for J-Visa Holders/Exchange Visitors and their dependents. Rates for voluntary participants and enrollment information for dependents can be found on the University Health Plans website.
