Belonging Resources and Support
Stevens is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive campus environment for all students, faculty, and staff members.
The Office of Student Culture and Belonging serves as the hub for support services, resources, and educational programming related to belonging. We continually work to ensure that the campus feels welcoming and supportive to all students, and we encourage feedback and suggestions as we continue to offer resources and programming. We welcome you to visit the websites and links below and visit our office in the University Center or contact [email protected].
Safe Zone Ally Program
The Stevens Safe Zone Ally Program is a campus-wide initiative designed to educate Stevens community members on LGBTQ+ identity, current (in)justices impacting the LGBTQ+ community, and visibly identify Stevens staff, students, and faculty who seek to support the campus' LGBTQ+ population.
All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend a Safe Zone workshop in order to learn about important campus resources, understand how to better support LGBTQ+ peers as an ally, and build a more inclusive community. After completion, all participants will receive a Safe Zone sticker or magnet to display.
Safe Zone workshops are advertised to the Stevens community on a regular basis and are available by request if your group/department would like to attend at a specific time together.
Inclusion Practices & Resources
Stevens supports all students, faculty, staff and visitors in availing themselves of all benefits available to them as part of the Stevens community.
Prospective or current students interested in learning more about on-campus experiences, resources and other support services should contact [email protected].

Flexible Housing
Stevens Institute of Technology prides itself on supporting all our students. Flexible Housing allows residents to create roommate groups and be assigned to rooms/suites, regardless of sex. Students applying for Stevens’ housing may identify roommates and suitemates of any sex if all residents of the apartment agree to the assignment. Students selecting a Flexible Housing room/suite must fill all beds in the room/suite they are selecting. In rooms and suites where the entire space is not filled through the housing selection process, the Office of Residential and Dining Services will revert those spaces to traditional spaces and assign students accordingly.
Students desiring a Flexible Housing assignment must first gain eligibility for Stevens housing by completing all requirements set forth by the Office of Residential and Dining Services – this includes applying and paying the housing application fee by the deadline. This housing option is available to all students in Stevens’ housing.
Students selecting Flexible Housing rooms/suites acknowledge that the living commitment is for one full year (fall and spring semester).
Students who change their mind about Flexible Housing can submit a request to change their room or suite, with the understanding that the ability to accommodate requests for such changes is contingent upon space availability and timing of the submitted request. If any student leaves the Flexible Housing assignment for any reason, the students remaining in the assignment will be given one full week to fill the vacant space with a student of their choosing. After one week, if the space is not filled by the students remaining in the assignment, the Office of Residential and Dining Services may revert the entire room or suite back to a traditional space and may fill the vacancy accordingly. This process of reverting to a traditional space may involve asking students living in the assignment to move to a new space; the involved students are expected to comply with this request.
It is the decision of the student, and not the institution, to communicate with parents, family members, and/or guardians about the decision to live in Flexible Housing.
Single Stall Restroom Commitment
Single Stall Restrooms are available in many buildings on the Stevens Institute of Technology campus. The University intends to expand Single Stall Restrooms to include all campus buildings in the future. New buildings and buildings that undergo significant renovations will have a Single Stall Restroom when space allows. See the most up-to-date map of Single Stall Restroom locations on campus, as well as the locations of single-stall lockable restrooms.
Inclusion Statement for Course Syllabi
Name and Pronoun Usage
As this course includes group work and in-class discussion, it is vitally important for us to create an educational environment of inclusion and mutual respect. This includes the ability for all students to have their chosen gender pronoun(s) and chosen name affirmed. If the class roster does not align with your name and/or pronouns, please inform the instructor of the necessary changes.
Inclusion Statement
Stevens Institute of Technology believes that diversity and inclusiveness are essential to excellence in academic discourse and innovation. In this class, the perspective of people of all races, ethnicities, gender expressions and gender identities, religions, sexual orientations, disabilities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and nationalities will be respected and viewed as a resource and benefit throughout the semester. Suggestions to further diversify class materials and assignments are encouraged. If any course meetings conflict with your religious events, please do not hesitate to reach out to your instructor to make alternative arrangements. You are expected to treat your instructor and all other participants in the course with courtesy and respect. Disrespectful conduct and harassing statements will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary actions.
Student Groups
Various student organizations and clubs are available to all students and offer opportunities for connection, community-building and belonging on campus. Learn more about our identity-based student organizations, which are open to all undergraduate students on Ducklink.
