Graduate Admissions

Admission into the Master's, Doctoral and Graduate Certificate programs at SSE requires an undergraduate degree in engineering or science discipline, or a relevant field, and strong quantitative skills, with a grade point average of a "B" or better from an accredited college or university.  Outstanding applicants in other areas maybe admitted conditionally, subject to the satisfactory completion of several introductory courses within the program. 

Master's Degree Admission Requirements

For Master's degree programs, students must submit the following documentation for Admission:

  • Completed Application for Admission
  • Application Fee
  • Official College Transcripts from all colleges attended
  • Statement of Purpose (required for International Students): which includes academic interests and general career objectives (maximum 2 pages)
  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation (a sample Recommendation Form is available for download )
  • GRE/GMAT scores - Starting Fall 2014 GRE/GMAT scores are required for all applicants applying into a Full-Time graduate program in the School of Systems and Enterprises . (Code #2819) - All scores are only valid for 5 years prior to the application term.

Approximately three weeks following receipt of the application for admission and the above material, you will receive a decision letter from the Office of Graduate Admissions. All matters pertaining to Admission and/or the submission of documentation is handled through the Office of the Graduate Admissions.

Doctoral Program Admission Requirements 

For Doctoral studies, students must submit the following documentation for Admission:

  • Statement of Purpose: which includes academic interests, proposed course work, research interests & rationale, general career objectives and desired full/part-time status (maximum 3 pages)
  • Current Resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Official transcripts for all schools of higher learning (university, colleges, etc.) attended; >3.0 Undergrad, >3.5 Graduate
  • Master's Degree in a related area is strongly recommended
  • GRE test scores (Applicants may submit GMAT scores in lieu of GREs for the Doctorate in Engineering Management and Enterprise Systems)
  • English Language Proficiency Requirements
  • Three recommendations
  • Evidence of written work: includes a technical document written solely by the applicant, published work is most desirable
  • Letter of endorsement from employer for part-time studies

While applications are accepted in a rolling admissions process throughout the school year, due to limitations in available faculty advisors it is strongly encouraged that students complete their application submissions by March 15th for entry in the fall semester and by August 15th for entry in the spring semester . Applications received after these days will be considered for any remaining opening positions.
