Minor in Green Engineering
The application of the principles by which engineers have a positive impact on sustainability is known as sustainable engineering or, more colloquially, green engineering. The latter terminology resonates with resurging interest in the environmental impact of human activity and the associated “green” approaches in mitigating them. Engineering undergraduates can earn a minor in Green Engineering which provides a holistic, systems perspective to the impact of human activity on the environment, including the role of engineering.

Minor in Chemistry

A minor in chemistry must include the following courses:

  • CH 243 Organic Chemistry I
  • CH 244 Organic Chemistry II
  • CH 245 Organic Chemistry Laboratory I
  • CH 246 Organic Chemistry Laboratory II
  • CH 362 Instrumental Analysis I - Spectroscopy and Chromatography
  • CH 412 Inorganic Chemistry I
  • CH 421 Chemical Dynamics
  • CH 580 Biochemistry I - Cellular Metabolism and Regulation

The following are prerequisites needed to undertake the minor program:

  • CH 115 General Chemistry I
  • CH 116 General Chemistry II
  • CH 117 General Chemistry Laboratory I
  • CH 118 General Chemistry Laboratory II

This sequence meets the American Chemical Society guidelines for a Minor in Chemistry. NOTE: The minor in Chemistry is not available to majors in Chemical Biology.
