Analytical chemistry is a field of science that focuses on obtaining qualitative and quantitative information about the composition and structure of material. The analytical chemistry graduate certificate program provides students with a solid foundation in analytical chemistry. Students will learn fundamentals of separation techniques, spectroscopic methods, physical characterization of materials, and analytical method development procedures.

The courses in this certificate are taught by experts in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry with decades of real-world experience in major pharmaceutical companies. The instructors that participate in the program include, Dr. Gary Martin, a distinguished fellow at the Merck Research Laboratories with expertise in NMR spectroscopy and medicinal chemistry, and Dr. Sheo Singh, with over 30 years of drug discovery and development experience (24 years at Merck).

Courses of this certificate program will count toward students’ master’s degree in chemistry or chemical biology either as core or elective courses.
