Fundación Pasos Libres
Stevens Institute of Technology is proud to have been the hub university for the IBM/United Nations/Fundación Pasos Libres BlueHack Against Human Trafficking, a hackathon aimed at developing technologies to combat human trafficking.
BlueHack, which took place March 9-10, 2019, on the Stevens campus, was the first event of its kind in the United States. Stevens joined forces with IBM and the Colombian anti-trafficking organization Fundación Pasos Libres to harness technology in the battle against human trafficking.
Participants received mentorship and technical support from the event's sponsors as they brainstormed and collaborated over two days to develop innovative software solutions to detect and stop human traffickers, who increasingly employ digital technology. The event culminated in a competition in which judges determined which solutions are most promising.
