Stevens Institute of Technology has always been close to the sea: the university was founded by the family that pioneered American ocean transport and created the America's Cup racing series.

We perform state-of-the-art collaborative research with government, industry, and academic partners in the areas of military, transport and pleasure craft design, utilizing our historic Davidson Laboratory. Utilizing the Lab's unique testing facility and decades of experience with numerical hydrodynamics, with a special focus on high-speed marine craft.

We also operate the Atlantic Center for the Innovative Design and Control of Small Ships (ACCeSS) to research and advance principles of ship design, develop young engineers into skilled naval architects and designers and further technological research and advances in ship design, novel hullforms, unmanned marine systems, and ship dynamics and control.
