Early Decision

Introduction

If Stevens is your first choice for college, we encourage you to consider applying as an Early Decision applicant. The acceptance rate for Early Decision candidates is significantly higher than the acceptance rate of regular decision candidates. What’s more, an Early Decision acceptance allows you to finish your college search earlier, giving you peace of mind as you prepare for college and enjoy the remainder of your senior year.

When you know, you know.

We offer two Early Decision plans to consider in your senior year. At Stevens, Early Decision is binding. If you are admitted as an early decision student with a financial aid offer that enables you to enroll, then you must submit a tuition deposit by the deadline listed on the admission timeline. If you apply for financial aid, you will have the opportunity to review your estimated financial aid and scholarship award before making the commitment to attend Stevens.

Application Checklist

  • Follow the application requirements for applying as a first-year student.

  • For Early Decision I, submit your application in full by November 15.

  • For Early Decision II, submit your application in full by January 15.

  • You should indicate on your application that you are applying for Early Decision I or II and electronically sign the Early Decision Agreement Form within your application.

  • If you have already submitted a Regular Decision application, but would like to switch your application to Early Decision, you’ll need to submit our Early Decision Agreement Form and submit your request in writing to [email protected]

  • If you choose Early Decision I or II, you’ll need to submit all transcripts, official test scores and recommendation letters by your specific application deadline.

  • If you wish to schedule an admissions interview, you must interview by November 15 for Early Decision I and January 15 for Early Decision II. Interviews are optional for all Early Decision applicants.

  • Be sure to apply for financial aid by the appropriate deadline. See below for more information.

Can I apply to other colleges?

You may apply to other colleges; however, you can only apply to one school as an Early Decision candidate. If you are admitted to Stevens under one of our Early Decision plans and accept our offer of admission, then you must immediately withdraw all other applications to other colleges. You may not submit new applications to other colleges after you have made this commitment to Stevens.

After you review and accept your financial aid award, you must make a $500 non-refundable deposit by your tuition deposit deadline to confirm your enrollment at Stevens.

When Will I Find Out If I’ve Been Accepted?

  • If you applied for Early Decision I by November 15, we will notify you of our admission decision by December 15.

  • If you applied for Early Decision II by January 15, we will notify you of our admission decision by February 15.

What If I Am Deferred?

We want you to be a success at Stevens and our intent is to find the best qualified candidates for our programs. If you apply Early Decision I and we are not able to accept you at that time, you may be deferred for reconsideration later in the spring. We will let you know that we need more information and then update our final decision in late March or early April. The Admissions Committee may consider additional senior grades and/or test scores that may not be available at the time of Early Decision.

How Do I Apply for Financial Aid?

  • If you apply Early Decision I, complete your CSS Profile and FAFSA by December 1.

  •  The CSS Profile is required in order to be considered for Stevens scholarships and grants. The Stevens CSS/Financial Aid Profile code is 2819.
