Risk & Compliance
The Office of Risk & Compliance helps to preserve Stevens’ reputation and resources through the following:
Coordinating and monitoring compliance and risk mitigation activities across the University and serving as a resource to all schools and divisions for support in their compliance activities
Providing support, training and educational resources to assist faculty and staff fulfill their responsibilities
Promoting communications, coordination and collaboration regarding compliance activities
Identifying potential areas of risk and guiding the development and implementation of mitigation plans for resolution of issues
Stevens' compliance functions are integrated into the operational units across the University, with compliance subject matter experts located in various divisions and offices. The Chief Compliance Officer, Fran Bouchoux, oversees and coordinates compliance activities across the University and supports divisional leaders and subject matter experts.
The Risk and Compliance Steering Committee (RCSC), comprised of several cabinet members and other administrators, identifies compliance and operational risks and assesses the effectiveness of compliance programs and risk mitigation plans. In addition, the Risk and Safety Committee meets regularly to focus on compliance issues involving safety and health issues and reports annually to the RCSC.
Every member of the Stevens community must consider compliance with laws, regulations and University policies as part of their job. All employees should become familiar with the policies found in the University Policy Library as well as departmental policies and procedures relevant to their specific job responsibilities.
