DeBaun Center for Performing Arts, in conjunction with Theta Alpha Phi, is proud to present Tomfoolery as the second production of the 2012-2013 Theater Series. Tomfoolery will run for one weekend on October 12 & 13, 2012 at 8 p.m. in DeBaun Auditorium, Edwin A. Stevens Hall, 24 5th Street (corner of Hudson Street), in Hoboken, NJ.
Tomfoolery is a witty and hilarious musical revue with music and lyrics by Tom Lehrer. First opened in 1980, Tomfoolery presents a varied platter of some of Tom Lehrer’s satirical, offbeat, and wicked works. Lehrer was a prolific musician and lyricist whose many pieces range from mockery of the Boy Scouts to praise of the letter “E”. This production will feature Stevens alumni, students, and faculty performing favorites like “National Brotherhood Week,” “The Masochism Tango,” “Poisoning Pigeons in the Park” and “The Elements Song” in front of a live band comprised of Stevens students and alumni.
Theta Alpha Phi (TAP) is Stevens’ National Theater Honors Fraternity which celebrated its 50th anniversary in Fall 2010. The Stevens Alpha Chapter is the first chapter of TAP in New Jersey and the only chapter at a technical institute. Tomfoolery marks the first full production fully produced by TAP since its inception over 50 years ago.
“It has been a joy to come back to Stevens and work with such amazing people,” says Giovanni Gaccione '09, producer and former TAP president. “The dedication of alumni, staff and current students have come together to truly celebrate the foundation of Theta Alpha Phi, which is excellence in theater.”
