Eighty-seven student-athletes and 14 teams represented Stevens on the Empire 8 Athletic Conference President’s List for the Spring 2013 semester.
The conference recognized 672 individuals and 92 teams from among the conference’s nine full-time members and seven affiliate members for their contributions on the field and their excellence in the classroom. A total of 4,575 student-athletes from among the full-time members combined to post a 3.160 GPA, bettering the 3.119 mark from the fall semester.
Recipients of this honor must earn a 3.75 grade point average or higher while participating in a conference-sponsored sport. In addition, the student-athlete must display positive conduct on and off campus and be enrolled full-time at the member institution. Teams must register a grade point average of 3.2 or higher to qualify for All-Academic Team honors. The conference states, “Its commitment to serve the educational needs of its student-athletes is the hallmark of the Empire 8.”
Stevens boasted the third-most student-athletes to be recognized behind Ithaca College and St. John Fisher College and ranked second only to Ithaca in team acknowledgements. The men’s golf squad narrowly edged out women’s cross country for the top team GPA as the Ducks landed seven more student-athletes on the spring list since the fall.
