A recent trip to Cartagena, Colombia to attend the 2013 World Engineering Education Forum (WEEF) on the 24th of September led to some important exchanges between Stevens Faculty from the School of Systems and Enterprises and the School of Engineering and Science. This year's conference focused on "Innovation in research and engineering education: key factors for global competitiveness."
A recent addition to the SSE Faculty, Dr. Ricardo Piñeda - Systems Programs Director - led the efforts to connect SSE Dean Dinesh Verma and SES Dean Michael Bruno, along with Dr. Khaldoun Khashanah, Program Director of the Financial Engineering Program and Dr. Jose Ramirez-Marquez Engineering Management Program Director with key contacts at the conference.
The 3-day long itinerary included individual meet & greet sessions as well as presentations to Deans and Provosts from 15 top ranked Universities in Latin America, including Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Universidad de Antioquia, Universidad del Norte, Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira and the Colombian Naval Academy.
Invited faculty also interfaced with leading engineering societies including IFEES (International Federation of Engineering Education Societies) and ACOFI (Colombian Council of Engineering Colleges).
