Steven Gabarro Named Institute's Top Online Instructor

<p>At Convocation on September 7, Assistant Teaching Professor Steven Gabarr&oacute; was honored with the 2011 Provost's Award for Excellence in Online Teaching and Program Development. The award -- the only one awarded in this category across the entire Institute -- was given in recognition of Steven's long term record of excellence in the online teaching of CS 546, Web Programming, and CS 550, Computer Organization and Programming.<br /><br />In addition to teaching these two online graduate courses, Steven regularly teaches several undergraduate courses in the classroom, where he is recognized as one of the department's best teachers. Steven also supervises the department's graduate co-op and curricular practical training programs that allow international students to gain employment experience in the US.<br /><br />Steven created the Web Programming course, which is the department's most popular elective course. He is also the author of the top-selling textbook used in that course, "Web Application Design and Implementation: Apache 2, PHP5, MySQL, JavaScript, and Linux/UNIX."<br /><br /></p>
