It comes as no surprise to all involved in the Software Engineering graduate program at the School of Systems and Enterprises at Stevens Institute of Technology that the job of Software Architect was ranked by CNNMoney as the best job in the United States. Software architects create the blueprints that software engineers use, working collaboratively on challenging, engaging projects. Their expertise is rewarded with high pay and excellent job growth. Our own Software Engineering program has long recognized the critical importance of Software Architecture as a discipline as well as the critical roles software architect play in software and systems development.
The program has recently launched a new Software Assurance concentration that offers two new Graduate Certificates tracks and a new Master’s Degree concentration for engineers and project leaders interested in Software Assurance and the development and management of trusted software systems. The emerging discipline of Software Assurance brings together systems and software coursework directed at achieving the development acquisition and operation of software systems and services at the needed and appropriate levels of security and dependability.
Each of these programs was developed and based on the new recommended curriculum for software assurance sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security of which Professor Mark Ardis, Distinguished Service Professor at Stevens, is one of the authors.
