Dr. Weatherall to Participate in Indo-Global Education Summit 2011

Hoboken, NJ – Dr. Maureen Weatherall, Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer-University Enrollment at Stevens, will take part in the upcoming Indo-Global Education Summit in Mumbai, India. The two-day summit will host world educators who will share knowledge for ways to improve India’s higher education system.

At Stevens Institute of Technology, Indians represent approximately 250 of the 3600 member graduate student body which includes international students from more than thirty other nations.

India has the world's second largest post-secondary student population of around 14 million. It is expected that this number will double over the next 12 years. Further, the Indian economy is transforming into an international powerhouse requiring India to provide the best possible educational opportunities for its citizens. In the face of a growing demand for post secondary education and limited capacities, India is turning to foreign universities, such as Stevens, to bridge the anticipated gap during this summit.
At Stevens Institute of Technology, Indian students comprise approximately 6.9 percent of the 3,600 member graduate student body which includes international students from more than thirty other nations.
Dr. Weatherall will take part in an open discussion about distance education programs. Other topics of discussion during the summit will include; collaborative research programs, joint undergraduate and graduate programs, twinning & transfer programs, faculty & student exchange programs, study abroad in India programs, vocational education programs, and other academic partnerships.
On the second day, Summit will have sessions on Engineering & IT, Business & Management, Life Sciences & Biomedicine, Natural Sciences, Arts & Humanities, and Social Sciences. These sessions involve panel discussions by selected foreign universities. There will be open-house discussions at the end of the sessions.
The Indo-Global Education Summit 2011 on academic collaborations and student enrollment will be held in New Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai from November 4 to 12, 2011.
