Stevens Institute of Technology is honored to have recently hosted Congressman Rush Holt, 12th district of New Jersey. Representative Holt, who has a significant interest in manufacturing, visited campus to meet with Dr. Nariman Farvardin.
While at Stevens, Rep. Holt toured the Center for Maritime Systems (CMS) and the Design and Manufacturing Institute (DMI) on campus. In addition, he was able to visit the construction site of the students’ Solar Decathlon project.
After a presentation on manufacturing, Rep. Holt invited Dr. Kishore Pochiraju, associate professor and director of the DMI, to participate in the Central New Jersey Manufacturing Roundtable to discuss the future of manufacturing locally – and nationally – that was held on August 23 at the Rutgers School of Engineering.
“I am thrilled to be a part of Congressman Holt's drive to revitalize the manufacturing industry and develop the workforce for modern manufacturing enterprise in New Jersey. Stevens has a long history of preparing engineers for careers in product development and manufacturing,” stated Dr. Pochiraju.
“We are so pleased to have welcomed Representative Holt to campus and been able to introduce him to our programs in manufacturing, harbor safety and green engineering,” said Dr. Farvardin, President of Stevens Institute of Technology. “We look forward to continuing this partnership with the Congressman in the future and working together in these very important areas for our state and the country.”
