DeBaun Center for Performing Arts is proud to present the fourth annual Stevens One Act Festival as the opening its 2012–2013 Theater Series. The Festival will run for one weekend on Sept. 14 & 15, 2012 at 8 p.m. in DeBaun Auditorium, Edwin A. Stevens Hall, 24 5th Street (corner of Hudson Street), in Hoboken.
The Stevens One Act Festival is a collaboration between DeBaun Center, Stevens Dramatic Society and Stevens Off Center and is comprised of one-act comedies following the theme of “Couples Therapy.” Four of the works are by established playwrights and two works are written by current Stevens students. All of the one acts are performed by Stevens students and directed by Stevens students, alumni or staff member.
The plays include: One Tennis Shoe by Shel Silverstein, produced by DeBaun Center and directed by Robert Gonzales Jr.; Time Flies by David Ives, produced by DeBaun Center and directed by Edward Delaney ‘11; FOREPLAY Or: Art of the Fugue by David Ives, produced by Stevens Dramatic Society and directed by Declan Candela ‘13; Arabian Nights by David Ives, produced by Stevens Dramatic Society and directed by Frank Riccobono ‘10; Three Yorkshire Couples by Hart Welles ‘14, produced by Off Center and directed by Hart Welles; and, Dating with Speed by Frank DiCola ‘15, produced by Off Center and directed by Frank DiCola.
DeBaun Center for Performing Arts presents the One Act Festival at Stevens because “there’s a lot of theatrical talent at Stevens that is usually not seen by the general public,” says David Zimmerman, Executive Director. “We created the One Act Festival to specifically focus on Stevens students.”
