Stevens Professor Joins AAES Board of Trustees
Professor David A. Vaccari, professor and program director, Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEES).
AAEES is a not-for-profit organization serving the Environmental Engineering and Environmental Science professions by providing Board Certification to those who qualify through experience and testing.
“By transitioning from being an ABET board member to being on the board of AAEES I get to continue to play a role in the engineering profession's effort to maintain its own quality,” says Dr. Vaccari. “But now my efforts will be targeted to my own field. I also think that this kind of professional service helps to raise the visibility of Stevens in the academic and professional world.”
Dr. Vaccari is a professor of environmental engineering and Director of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering at Stevens. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and a Board Certified Environmental Engineer.
Next year he will complete his second and final term as a member of the Board of Directors of ABET, Inc., which accredits engineering programs in the U.S.
Also next year, Richard S. Magee is completing his second term as a Trustee of AAEES, and will leave that body. Thus, Dr. Vaccari’s election will continue Stevens’ representation at AAEES. Dr. Magee is Research Professor at Stevens, and recently was also a member of the Stevens Board of Trustees.
