Some generalizations of one-relator groups

ABSTRACT

In my talk I will present some families of groups that naturally generalize the family of one-relator groups. These families include Hempel groups and one-relator quotients of graph products. We will discuss solvability of the word problem and some cohomological properties.

 

BIO

Yago Antolin Pichel is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Pure Mathematics at the University of Southhampton, UK. He received his B.S and M.S. degrees in Mathematics from Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and his Ph.D. degree from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). Research interests of Dr. Antolin Pichel are in the field of combinatorial and geometric group theory, more specifically, one-relator groups, virtually free groups and right-angled Artin groups. The current presentation is related to his work in this area.
