The first Stephen L. Bloom Scholarship will be awarded to Jamie Brabston, a Computer Science major at Stevens. The scholarship is given annually to a student who is majoring in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Information Systems who has compiled an outstanding record in his or her field and who demonstrates interest and accomplishment in music or the fine arts.
This scholarship was established in 2011 in memory of Stephen L. Bloom, Professor of Computer Science from 1977 to 2010, by Professor Bloom's many friends and colleagues.
Jamie has compiled an extended record of outstanding academic performance; her GPA is over 3.7. Besides the BS degree that she will receive in May 2012, she is simultaneously pursuing an MS in computer science and a graduate certificate in Project Management, and she has participated in the co-op program, spending five semesters working off campus.
Jamie has been deeply involved in music since she was 11 years old. She has mastered the flute, playing for the Honors Wind Ensemble in high school and then continuing at Stevens in the Concert Band.
