Stevens Ranks 3rd in Mid-Career Earnings
At mid-career, the average salary of Stevens graduates is a hefty $124,000, ranking Stevens Institute of Technology third among colleges and universities nationwide, according to PayScale’s 2013-2014 College Salary Report.
Trailing only Harvey Mudd College and the United States Naval Academy and tied for third with California Institute of Technology, Stevens jumped nine spots above its 12th place ranking in 2012. PayScale ranks schools based on the median salary of graduates who are full-time employees with at least 10 years of experience in their field who hold only a bachelor’s degree.
Stevens also topped a number of other lists based on the PayScale data. The typical starting salary of Stevens graduates is $64,900, tied for 8th in the nation. Stevens—the first school of mechanical engineering in the nation—is tied for 13th on the list of Best Schools for Engineering Majors. And Stevens ranks first among Northeast schools and second among research universities for salary potential.
“Choosing a college is a big decision, so when a student chooses Stevens, we strive to ensure that there is a big payoff,” said Stevens President Nariman Farvardin. “This ranking validates what we already know within our talented university community—that a Stevens education is a pathway to success.”
