The spring Sustainability Seminar Series continues on February 20 with the talk "Sustainable Future of Energy" by Erick Ford of the New Jersey Energy Coalition.
What will the future of energy look like 25 years from now and how will sustainability play a role? New Jersey has undergone an energy sector transformation. This transformation includes aspects like: distributed energy resources, energy efficiency, solar, off shore wind, energy storage, infrastructure, bridge fuels, cybersecurity and microgrids. When we think of energy, we all have to start thinking beyond what we see as an end user along with what it takes for the energy to reach the end point. The energy sector is the backbone of the economy and its sustainability is paramount. In the spring of 2018, New Jersey established some new goals and desires which will make us all have to ask what the future of energy in New Jersey and America will be.
Erick Ford is the executive director of the New Jersey Energy Coalition. Ford worked in state government for five years, several of which were at the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. There he served as a confidential aide to former president of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities Richard Mroz, and commissioner Dianne Solomon. Ford studied Global Affairs at George Mason University. He is a native of the great state of New Jersey. He is also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, a non-profit organization.
