The Sustainability Seminar Series continues both onsite and online via a Blackboard Collaborate webinar on Wednesday, November 1 with The Road to Sustainable Materials Management through Recycling with Gary Sondermeyer, Bayshore Recycling.
Gary serves as Vice President of Operations for Bayshore Recycling of Woodbridge Township, NJ. Bayshore is one of the State’s largest recyclers, managing seven separate but related recycling operations on its 58 acre site. Services include: recycling concrete, asphalt, brick and block into aggregate materials; remediation of impacted petroleum contaminated soils; materials recovery of mixed construction and demolition debris; metals recycling; acceptance and processing of dredge material, Class A recycling of curbside commodities and consumer electronics recycling. Bayshore’s corporate vision is running 100% green businesses powered 100% by renewable energy.
Gary joined Bayshore following 30 years of service at the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. He served as the agency’s Chief of Staff for 10 years under five DEP Commissioners and six NJ Governors with a staff of 3,500 employees. He also served as Assistant Commissioner for the DEP’s core permitting programs for 3 years and spent 17 years within the Solid Waste and Recycling Program where he also served as Director. Gary has Bachelor of Science and Masters’ degrees from Rutgers University in Environmental Planning.
