Join us on Wednesday, September 16, at 12 noon for the SSE Dean’s Virtual Seminar Series: The Future of Systems, featuring Prof. A. Emrah Bayrak on "Predicting Human Design Decisions under Competition: Integrating Machine Learning with Game Theory."

In this talk, Prof. Bayrak will discuss the importance of users’ trust in the effectiveness of decision support from AI systems. He will present a study that aims to answer the question: What is the optimal level of trust needed from the user for maximum effectiveness based on the capability of an AI system?

Dr. Bayrak is an assistant professor at the School of Systems and Enterprises. He received a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan. Dr. Bayrak’s research focuses on bridging computational methods and human cognition to develop human-computer collaboration architectures for the design and control of smart products and systems. He is interested in developing artificial intelligence systems that can effectively collaborate with humans, considering the unique capabilities of humans and computational systems.

The "SSE Dean’s Virtual Seminar Series: The Future of Systems" is presented by Dean Yehia Massoud and offers weekly lectures each Wednesday at noon for Stevens undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, administration and guests. At each session, SSE faculty present a 20-minute lecture, followed by a five-to-ten minute Q&A session.

The series has been created to keep students informed on the advances of faculty research, and the mission of the School of Systems and Enterprises as a leader in systems science and engineering. Each lecture will be recorded and made available on the School of Systems and Enterprises Kaltura channel for those who are unable to attend the live Zoom sessions.

Visit the SSE event page to view a list of upcoming lectures.
