Democratizing Sustainable Business

Sustainability Seminar Series

Dani Glaser

The spring Sustainability Seminar Series continues on April 11 with the talk "Democratizing Sustainable Business" by Dani Glaser of Green Team Spirit LLC.

Sustainability drives business performance and competitive advantage. Yet why aren’t more businesses adopting a sustainable platform? Concerns often heard include: “going green is too expensive,” “not enough time and resources” or “only large companies can afford it.” Collectively, the business sector (commercial, industrial, institutional) has the potential to make a significant impact on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and resource waste. What would it take to motivate the entire business sector to transition toward sustainability? Dani Glaser will share how the Green Business Partnership is designed to make sustainable business affordable and accessible using a collaborative, peer-sharing approach. This success has led the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to invest in the expansion of GBP as a replicable model for New York State businesses.

Dani Glaser is the Founder and CEO of Green Team Spirit LLC. Her inspiration to start the company in 2008 stemmed from her research to develop a green business engagement program for Westchester County. She discovered that companies that were successfully incorporating environmental sustainability into their core mission were those that combined strong executive support, a diverse green team and systems for measuring and tracking results. She found that most case studies were from large, global organizations, so the opportunity was to create a program to help organizations of any size and type to achieve their sustainability goals in an “easy” and affordable manner.

Glaser’s company developed the proprietary GTS Toolkit© to facilitate the successful integration of sustainable practices into company operations. The GTS Toolkit© contains templates, resource links and step-by-step guidance to set policy, take action and measure performance in the areas of organizational commitment, energy, transportation, materials management – waste/recycling and green purchasing, water, and land use. Glaser’s company provides the licensed GTS Toolkit© and expertise to the Green Business Partnership. GBP has been recognized by New York State (NYSERDA) as a replicable model and is now available to all NY State businesses. Glaser also works with local governments, extending her expertise to the municipal sector.
