Speaker: Catherine Ruis, Senior Specialist, Corporate Social Responsibility


In this lecture, Catherine will address what goes into Corporate Social Responsibility at a public company. Everything from building an annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report to calculating a company’s GHG emissions and long-term strategy development will be addressed. Responding to investor requests and reporting to external rating organizations and frameworks will also be covered. It will be a glimpse into the day in the life of a CSR team. With new potential regulations in the US and globally, there is an emerging market for this specialty.


CEOE - Seminar Speaker - Catherine Ruis

Catherine Ruis is the Senior Specialist of Corporate Social Responsibility at Columbus McKinnon Corporation, a company that designs, manufactures, and markets motion control products, technologies, systems and services such as cranes, hoists and actuators.

Catherine has gained a lot of work experiences during her short time in her professional career. During college and summer internships, she built her foundation in ecological research. Her professional career began at STV as a Sustainability & Resilience Intern working on best practices for flood barriers and developing the foundation for a sustainability program. Next, she interned with the NJEDA working on the project management of the building and development of an offshore wind turbine manufacturing facility. After that, she began an internship with Columbus McKinnon Corporation as an Environmental Sustainability Intern tasked with building the environmental reporting structure and analyzing their environmental data for their first CSR Report. Upon finishing her master’s from Stevens, she began full time and quickly promoted to oversee the environmental stewardship program across the global company and all other CSR Related initiatives.

Catherine has a B.S. in Environmental Science from Binghamton University. She also has her M.S. in Sustainability Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, Class of 2021 and is pursuing her MBA at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
