Sustainability Seminar Series

Mark Nardolillo

Attendance is free but seating is limited to 30 people, so please RSVP to Dr. Sarkar at [email protected]

The fall Sustainability Seminar Series continues on September 26 with the talk "Assessing Risk to the United States Air Force’s Arctic Infrastructure Due to Coastal Erosion" by Mark Nardolillo of BEM Systems, Inc.

In this presentation, Nardolillo will describe the coastal erosion problem facing the United States Air Force in arctic Alaska and how numerical models are being developed to help evaluate facility vulnerability and inform decisions on asset management at remote radar stations on the north slope.

Mark Nardolillo is the CEO, president, and founding principal of BEM Systems, Inc.—one of the premiere providers of innovative solutions to complex environmental issues for all branches in the U.S. Department of Defense, National Aeronautics Space Administration and numerous other federal, state and regional government agencies. Through his more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Nardolillo has developed a thorough working knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the environmental consulting profession. Regarding climate change, Nardolillo is developing techniques for forecasting rates of coastal erosion along Alaska’s arctic coast to evaluate vulnerability and risk of Air Force assets. In addition, he is working with various state and federal clients to evaluate similar forecasting techniques for facilities in the lower 48 states.

For more information, please contact Dr. Dibs Sarkar at [email protected] For those who are unable to attend in person, the seminar will be live webcast via Stevens WebCampus and Blackboard Collaborate.
