Cindy Chin is the Associate Provost at Stevens Institute of Technology. She manages the strategic, administrative and financial operations for the Office of the Provost and the Division of Academic Affairs, reporting directly to the provost, and serves as his chief of staff.
Cindy and her team are responsible for the Office of the Registrar and for overseeing and ensuring progress on a variety of ongoing operations, strategic initiatives, special projects and priorities including, but not limited to: resource allocation, financial planning, and budgeting; human resources for both staff and faculty; administration, management, and office operations; technology implementations; space management and planning; academic communications and events; and monitoring progress on strategic goals for the academic enterprise.
Cindy also serves as an advisor to the provost, the Office, and as a liaison to academic and administrative units across the university. She is responsible for coordinating the functions of the provost’s team with other offices across the university and developing strong working relationships with academic and administrative leaders and with faculty governance bodies. She also provides research, analysis and advice on policy and operational issues.
Cindy started her career in the financial services industry at Citigroup and J.P. Morgan Chase where she held a number of positions in the cash management and global private banking businesses. Cindy was also previously a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7 and 63 licensed private banking associate. She later moved into the non-profit sector working for the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy as a senior research analyst and eventually joined Stevens in 2012 in the Undergraduate Admissions office. Cindy held several roles in Undergraduate Admissions including admissions counselor, associate director of operations and interim director. She later joined Technolutions, a company that provides software for managing higher education admissions processes, before returning to Stevens in 2017 in the Office of the Provost.
Cindy is a member of the Advisory Committe and was previously a member of the Board of Trustees at the Hoboken Dual Language Charter School. Cindy graduated from Stevens with high honors, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business and Technology with a minor in economics and a Master of Science in Management. Cindy is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education from the Johns Hopkins University in Entrepreneurial Leadership in Education.
