Tej Patel joined Stevens in August 2020 as Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. A forward-looking leader with more than 15 years of higher education and corporate information technology experience, he is responsible for formulating a unifying IT vision and strategy aligned with Stevens' overarching mission.
Chief Information Security Officer
Jeremy has over 20 years of experience in a variety of roles within information technology and security while focused on security policy, management, account management, information security management, and information assurance. Prior to joining Stevens, he has worked in a wide range of organizations such as NJEdge, Fortium Partners, the Pew Charitable Trusts, DXC Technology, Federal Housing Finance Agency, ASRC Federal, Cloudburst Security, NucoreVision Inc., Executive Office of the President in the White House, and the US Navy. He also serves on the InCommon Steering Committee, Eduroam Advisory Board, and as an Adjunct Professor for American Public University.
Assistant Vice President for Information Technology
Mike Parente serves as the Assistant Vice President for Information Technology. Mike has been at Stevens for over 11 years and has held several other positions prior to his current role, all in the applications and information systems space. He also spent time in the financial sector at Citigroup earlier in his career and has over 20 years of experience in the information technology field. He leads and works on large-scale enterprise-wide projects, spanning multiple units in IT and across campus, as well as smaller more focused initiatives. Mike provides oversight and leadership for the Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) and Enterprise Web Services (EWS) groups. EIS is responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting Stevens’ enterprise information systems, including enterprise resource planning and other core administrative/business and academic systems, data and business intelligence platforms, and identity and access management services. EWS is responsible for providing support for Stevens’ web infrastructure, web authentication, and web security. Mike and his team are involved in supporting both Stevens legacy systems as well as next-generation platforms. Besides responsibilities in his own units, Mike is also involved in the overall strategic planning and oversight of the Division of Information Technology. He is a Stevens alumnus graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and a master’s degree in Networked Information Systems.
Senior Director of client support and Learning Technology SERVICES
Mike Scalero serves as the Director of Learning Technology and the Interim Director of User Support Services. Mike has been at Stevens for 17 years and has held multiple positions within the Division, working on and leading a variety of enterprise projects. He provides leadership for his team in all aspects of instructional technology, design, multimedia, and client engagement. Mike is also involved in aspects of faculty and staff professional development and technological training for the majority of our services which in physical and virtual learning spaces. Some of the more recent contributions of his office include the transition to Zoom, the rollout of Attendance tools and Poll Everywhere. Mike also hosts the annual Learning Technology Exposition and serves on various committees and working groups surrounding all aspects of instructional technology at Stevens. He has presented on behalf of Stevens at conferences, such as the NERCOMP, EDUCAUSE, and NJEDGE. Mike is a Stevens alumnus graduating with a masters in Technology Management from the Howe School of Business.
senior Director of infrastructure services
Hammad Ali is Director of Network and Systems Administration. Prior to joining Stevens in May 2020, he served as a VP and IT Infrastructure Manager at an asset management firm, Rockefeller Capital Management. Hammad brings over 18 years of information technology experience in the field of Systems, networks, and security. Hammad holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology from NJIT.
