The Undergraduate Commencement Ceremonies will be held at the Meadowlands Expo Center (MEC), 355 Plaza Drive, Secaucus, New Jersey on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

Undergraduate Commencement 2022

Stevens will hold two Undergraduate ceremonies on Wednesday, May 25th for Commencement 2022:

  • 10:00 a.m. - School of Business, School of Systems & Enterprises, and College of Arts & Letters
  • 3:00 p.m. - School of Engineering & Science

Each ceremony will be approximately 2 hours in length, and doors open 1 hour prior to the ceremony. Further details on ticketing, live stream, parking, and regalia are listed below.

Academic Regalia

All graduate candidates, faculty and administration participating in the commencement ceremonies must wear academic regalia. We have passed the deadline for ordering regalia from Oak Hall. However, the Stevens Bookstore orders extra sets that will be available for pick-up a few days prior to the ceremonies. Contact Jo'vi Codrington, Bookstore Manager for further information ASAP and to reserve a set.

Cords/Stoles/Pins and Graduating with Honors

Various departments and organizations give out cords, stoles, yokes and pins for graduating students, to be worn with their standard regalia. These items are given out by the respective departments/organizations, and not by the Office of University Events. Also, please note Stevens does not give out cords for honors, high honors, or highest honors. Those graduates receiving such honors will be noted in the Commencement program, which will be available at MEC but also online, linked to this website.

Dual Degrees

The dual degree recipient is also encouraged to participate only in the Undergraduate Ceremony, where they will be recognized as receiving 2 degrees. However, they are welcome to walk in both ceremonies, using the same set of regalia. Further questions about dual degrees can be emailed to the Office of University Events at [email protected]

Guest Tickets

TicketLeap has recently sent out emails to all graduating students. This email contains a discount code for commencement tickets - all guest tickets are free. Click on CLAIM DISCOUNT, choose your ceremony, and choose how many tickets you would like. Say YES to a Discount Code, and APPLY the 100% off code to your order. Once completed, you can download a PDF of your tickets and distribute how you wish.

Each graduating senior (receiving a Bachelor's Degree) can order up to six (6) guest tickets for their respective commencement ceremony. All seating is general admission, and doors open 1 hour prior to each ceremony. Please note that every guest MUST have a ticket to enter the venue, no matter their age. Also, each ticket is unique and will be scanned at entry, so if copies of tickets are made, only the first copy that arrives at the door will be allowed in. Guest tickets are transferable from student to student, but only within the same ceremony.

A wait list is being created for those who still cannot find extra tickets. Details of this online List will be posted and announced the first week of May.

If you did not receive a link, please contact [email protected] with your name and CWID, major and degree, and we will resolve the matter.

ADA Accessibility for Guests

Guests with ADA hangtags can park in the lot underneath MEC (parking attendants will guide you to the entrance.) Also, guests can be dropped off in the front of MEC if mobility is an issue. There is a staircase at the main entrance, with a ramp next to it for wheelchair and crutch access. Free wheelchairs will be available at the entrance to those who need. Once inside, the rest of the Expo Center is flat, including the seating area. For those who need, there will be one section that is reserved for ADA accessible guests, which will be closer to the entrance and bathrooms, and easier to park a wheelchair, crutches, etc. When ordering tickets, you can designate 2 of your tickets for this section. If you need more, or have specific questions, please contact our office at [email protected].

Guidelines for COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly evolving, and the rise of new variants is increasing the risk of illness and transmission of COVID-19 for everyone, including vaccinated individuals. At this time, we expect a mandatory face mask mandate will be in place for all guests and participants at the commencement ceremonies. However, Stevens will continue to monitor and follow all guidelines from the CDC and the State of New Jersey, and this mandate may change by May 25-26.

Live Streaming and Close Captioning

For those who cannot attend in person, Stevens will live-stream all ceremonies so that friends and family who cannot attend in person can join virtually. The link will be posted on this webpage on the day of the ceremony. In addition, all ceremonies will be close captioned on site as well as on the live-stream.

Arrival Time and What to Bring

Candidates are asked to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the ceremony, fully dressed in their regalia. Once they enter the Expo Center Lobby, they will be directed to the proper venue entrance to pick up their name card for the ceremony. This card is used by the name reader to say their name as they cross the stage. Changes can be made the day of the ceremony if need be. There are no lockers in the venue, so please do not bring anything you cannot carry with you for the ceremony. Also, flowers will be sold on-site, as well as certain items from the Stevens Bookstore. Balloons are not allowed in the venue and will be confiscated.

Parking and Transportation

The Meadowlands Expo Center (MEC) has plenty of free parking within walking distance of the venue. Those guests with handicapped parking tags can park under the building. Shuttles will not be provided to the venue from campus. We suggest using Uber or Lyft if you need public transportation.

Stevens Bookstore offers a number of gift items as well, including diploma frames, glassware, clothing, etc. Flowers will be sold on-site at the venue, along with certain items from the Stevens Bookstore.
