In my sophomore year of high school, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. This event changed my life in an instant. I now had to deal with this new disease that somehow become a part of me, literally. The medical device that helps me manages this condition was created by biomedical engineers, and knowing this inspired me. Building a device that effectively puts an end to diabetes has since been a dream of mine, and I want to go into research in either prosthetics or medical devices after I graduate from Stevens. I feel as though helping those who suffer from the same affliction I do will be the main goal of my career path. So far at Stevens, I have found my experience on the varsity fencing team to be a very fulfilling. Fencing at the college level is a big time commitment, testing my interpersonal and leadership skills.
