Welcome to the Flock!

All incoming transfer students will be required to participate in New Student Orientation that will take place virtually between August 17-20, 2020. Orientation is designed to welcome you to our vibrant community, learn about academic and student services, and explore ways to get involved during your time as a Stevens student. For registration and information regarding New Student Orientation, please refer to your Stevens email.

Transfer Student Pathways

New Student Modules (Required)

All incoming transfer students will be invited via email to participate in the first of four mandatory online modules for new students on topics including the Stevens Honor System, Mental Health, Alcohol and other Drugs, and Title IX policies about consent, sexual assault, and relationship violence. These online modules are one way to educate all members of the Stevens community regarding our expectations for a healthy campus culture and to equip you with the skills and resources to make thoughtful decisions as a Stevens student. You will complete these modules at your own pace before the start of the fall semester.

Parent and Family Webinar Series (Optional)

Throughout July and August, we also have virtual opportunities specifically designed for parents and/or family members of all incoming students. These webinars will provide them with an introduction into the Stevens community and provide them with the resources to support you as you transfer into Stevens.

Parent and Family Orientation will provide information about the vast network of resources available to your student to support their wellness, academic success, and the holistic development as a Stevens student. This session will be facilitated by Dr. Sara Klein, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Ken Nilsen, Dean of Students. There will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end of presentation. If you are interested in registering for this webinar, please refer to communication sent to your Stevens email .

Zoom Community Hangouts (Optional)

As part of our peer-led conversation series, we are hosting Zoom hangouts for incoming transfer students to meet other incoming transfer students as well as meet current students who recently transferred into Stevens. Registration and reminders for these zoom hangouts will be sent to you in a separate communication.

First Year Reading Program (Required)

All incoming students will read What The Eyes Don’t See: A Story of Crisis, Hope, Resistance and Hope in an American City by Mona Hanna-Attisha before New Student Orientation as you will participate in small, faculty-led discussion groups focused on the reading. To accompany the reading, the Samuel C. Williams Library has created a Research Guide to provide you with additional videos, articles, and resources related to prominent themes within the book. For more information, please visit www.stevens.edu/orientation.

Peer Leader Program

Each new student is assigned a current student to serve as their Peer Leader. Peer Leaders are students who are in a closely aligned major as you and will serve as a guide and resource to you throughout your first semester at Stevens. You will begin hearing from them in the coming weeks and will meet virtually throughout orientation and the fall semester.
