Building upon Stevens' mission to inspire, nurture and educate leaders in tomorrow’s technology-centric environment, the Center for Continuing and Professional Education focuses on providing lifelong learning opportunities. Through the School of Business, the School of Engineering & Science, the School of Systems & Enterprises and the College of Arts and Letters, the center offers access to the breadth and depth of graduate and professional education at Stevens through a variety of learning modalities that can be customized for an entire business enterprise to educate and train their workforce down to the individual needs of a single student.
The center has a long history of providing graduate education and professional education programs to Fortune 500 firms, federal labs and government agencies, plus niche programs for smaller ventures. These partnerships have allowed Stevens to impact the careers of working professionals. Additionally, we continue to learn as to how we can best serve the technical workforce. This has become evident in how we structure our programs to meet the varied schedules of professionals with on-campus programs in the evening or weekend, on-site at your location, at the Stevens campus in Washington, DC, and through online programs to accommodate the student across the Hudson River and world-wide.
Paul Easterling, Assistant Provost for Graduate Studies
Paul Easterling oversees the Office of Graduate Admissions and Enrollment Management and the Office of Continuing and Professional Education at Stevens and brings together graduate admissions, corporate and professional education, and online learning to ensure the sustainable growth of graduate and professional programs. Paul directs the recruitment, admissions and yield strategies for graduate and professional students that meet Stevens' strategic objectives of improving the quality, number and diversity of graduate students, and leads the StevensOnline initiative to offer online degree programs designed for working professionals. In partnership with the academic leadership, develops and implements innovative programming to enhance and expand our graduate and professional education offerings; analyzes market opportunities and challenges present in providing educational opportunities to diverse learners in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan region and beyond; increases enrollment in graduate and professional learning programs; and supports and encourages enrollments by international students in graduate programs through international agreements.
Prior to coming to Stevens, Paul was director of educational development and communication in the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland. Paul worked to provide graduate degree programs and professional development programs primarily for working engineers through on-campus, distance and online graduate programs. Degree programs developed since Paul joined Maryland include online programs in project management, energetic concepts, bioengineering and reliability engineering and new programs in sustainable energy engineering, nuclear engineering and technology venturing and innovation. Prior to his work at Maryland, he was the graduate program director at The University of Akron (Ohio) in the polymer science department. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at The University of Akron. Paul has taught in a Department of Education-sponsored Upward Bound Math/Science program, taught at the university level, served on Department of Commerce International Trade Sub-Committee for the Plastics/Polymer Industry as an education specialist, was a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) Education Foundation Board, a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineering’s Corporate 100 Forum, served on the Intelliworks Strategic Advisory Council and served on the State of Maryland’s Governor’s Workforce Investment Board for Higher Education. Paul is a member of AFCEA International and the American Society of Engineering Education.
