Stay up to date on Stevens’ operations and guidance regarding the COVID-19 pandemic by regularly visiting our website. All members of the Stevens community must abide by the Stevens Health Honor Code whether on campus, off campus, or in your home community and follow all university requirements. 

Face Masks on Campus

The CDC has issued new guidance regarding the wearing of masks. We are reviewing that guidance and awaiting further information from the State of NJ to see if the requirement will change in NJ. In addition, it is not yet clear if this guidance applies to classrooms.

At this time, Stevens is maintaining its requirement that masks must be worn indoors and outdoors when on campus and at Stevens-sponsored events off campus, except when eating or drinking. As more students, faculty and staff are fully vaccinated and when we hear more from the State of NJ, we will consider changing this requirement.

Update on Positive COVID-19 Cases

Since my email on May 11th, two students have tested positive for COVID-19 but have not been on campus recently. 

We have received 762 test results from on-campus testing conducted from May 10-14 through Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (BNBMC) and two were positive.

All COVID-19 positive individuals are in isolation and their close contacts have been identified and notified to quarantine.

Weekly COVID Testing 

Weekly COVID-19 testing will continue to be provided on campus in Walker Gym for students, faculty and staff who come to campus regularly during the spring semester and have not yet submitted proof of vaccination to Stevens. You may choose to be tested on campus or may use an off-site testing location and submit a negative test result online at https://my.stevens.edu/covidtest before coming to campus.

If you arrive without an appointment, you will be asked to schedule an appointment later in the day or on another day. To avoid that outcome, please register for your weekly test and schedule your appointment in advance for on-campus COVID-19 testing.

Below are upcoming dates for testing. After May 26th, weekly testing during the summer months will occur on Wednesdays only.

  • May 19: (Wednesday) (9 am - 12 pm) (1 pm - 5 pm)
  • May 20: (Thursday) (9 am - 12 pm) (1 pm - 4 pm)
  • May 24: (Monday) (9 am - 12 pm) (1 pm - 6 pm)
  • May 26: (Wednesday) (9 am - 12 pm) (1 pm - 5 pm)

Stevens no longer requires that fully vaccinated students, faculty, and staff participate in weekly COVID-19 testing. To qualify for a release from testing, fully vaccinated students, faculty, and staff must provide a record of COVID-19 vaccination to Stevens via Workday and wait two weeks from their final dose before stopping their weekly testing. Fully vaccinated Tier One in-season athletes must continue to test even after submitting vaccination documentation. 

Vaccine Requirement 

All students and full-time and part-time employees, including but not limited to faculty, full-time staff, adjuncts, and part-time staff whose program of study or work assignment requires them to be on campus for the Fall 2021 semester must be vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine that has been authorized or granted emergency use authorization (EUA) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The CDC has emphasized the benefits of COVID-19 vaccines and their effectiveness in preventing the transmission of COVID-19. All faculty, staff and students who have received both the first and second doses of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should promptly submit evidence of the vaccination (such as a CDC-issued vaccination card), including the vaccination date(s) and vaccine name, through Workday. For instructions on how to submit your documents, please click on this link. Stevens will keep individuals’ vaccination information confidential.

Guidance from the State of New Jersey

As of May 17, New Jersey residents returning home and travelers visiting New Jersey do not need to quarantine but should follow travel guidance from the CDC, the NJ Department of Health, and all local health and safety protocols of their travel destination. More information is available here, including guidance for international travel. International travelers must continue to follow guidance and advisories from the US Department of State.

Reporting COVID-19 Symptoms and/or Positive COVID-19 Results

If any student, faculty, or staff member (living on campus or off campus) experiences COVID-19 symptoms, tests positive for COVID-19, or has close contact with an individual who tests positive for COVID-19, please self-isolate and immediately contact Stevens Student Health Services at 201-216-5678 or [email protected]. This protects you and those with whom you have been in close contact.
