Subject: Health Advisory: Temporary Closure of Babbio Open Study Spaces; Extended Library Hours

Please review the important information below as we work together to promote a stronger, safer Stevens. All members of the Stevens community must abide by the Stevens Health Honor Code whether on campus, off campus, or in your home community and follow all requirements, including wearing a face mask, social distancing, frequent hand washing, and avoiding non-essential travel and gatherings outside your immediate circle.

Temporary Closure of Babbio Open Study Spaces

Effective tomorrow morning, all Open Study Spaces in Babbio will be closed. The closed Babbio spaces are: Room 222, 2nd Floor Lounge, Room 322, 3rd Floor Lounge, and Room 431. Three students who studied in these locations have tested positive for COVID-19 and out of an abundance of caution, we will close the spaces for deep cleaning and to develop a plan to monitor usage of the spaces to promote social distancing and mask wearing. The COVID-19 positive students who used these spaces are in isolation and their close contacts have been notified and are required to quarantine. We expect to reopen these spaces on Monday, November 16 and will send an announcement in advance.

At this time, we recommend that students use the Library to study. The Library has space available and its recently expanded hours are available on its website. You may make an online reservation by clicking here or may stop by without a reservation to see if there is space available.

We understand that due to occupancy limits and social distancing requirements, it can be difficult to locate spaces for study groups. We encourage you to utilize the Library and Zoom or other online platforms.

Reporting COVID-19 Symptoms and/or Positive COVID-19 Results

If any student, faculty, or staff member (living on campus or off campus) experiences COVID-19 symptoms, tests positive for COVID-19, or has close contact with an individual who tests positive for COVID-19, please self-isolate and immediately contact Stevens Student Health Services at 201-216-5678 or [email protected]. This protects you and those with whom you have been in close contact.
