Winter Intersession Housing is available from December 23, 2020 - January 28, 2021. 2. Leave the residence halls for the Winter Intersession no later than December 22 at 5 PM (or within 24 hours of the last final exam, if earlier) and:
    • Return to campus for Spring 2021 on Thursday, January 14 for a two-week quarantine if needed (depending on where you have traveled during the Winter Intersession). COVID-19 test results are not required upon arrival for a quarantine; a COVID-19 test will instead be scheduled between days 5-7 of your quarantine or;
    • Return to campus for Spring 2021 between Friday, January 29 – Sunday January 31 at a scheduled appointment time for Spring 2021 semester move-in. A COVID-19 test is required within 5 days of arrival on campus, and a negative test result must be submitted to [email protected] before returning to campus; students must self-quarantine at home after taking the test and before returning to campus. Limited Stevens Dining service will be available to students remaining in Stevens Housing for the Winter Intersession. Since Fall 2020 meal plans end on December 22, 2020 and Spring 2021 meal plans begin on January 29, 2021, students must cover the cost of their meals during Winter Intersession.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I get tested before returning to campus after the Winter Intersession?

Testing sites local to Stevens and Hoboken are listed on the Student Health Services website. New Jersey residents can locate testing information here. Students from other states and countries should check government websites for available testing resources.

Should I bring my belongings home during the Winter Intersession? Do I have to move out of my room?

Students who plan to return to Stevens housing for Spring 2021 must return their key, but do not need to bring their belongings home for the Winter Intersession; students can bring home only what is needed for the time away, as well as any valuable items, such as laptop computers.

If a student has any doubt about whether or not they will return to campus for Spring 2021, we recommend that they bring all of their belongings home for the Winter Intersession or pack and store them at a local storage facility. Stevens will be unable to pack and ship your belongings if you do not return for Spring 2021.

Please note that your personal belongings are not the responsibility of the University. If a loss occurs (ex: due to water, fire, accidental damage, or theft), Stevens does not cover your personal items. If you do not have protection of your own or through your parent’s homeowners’ insurance, you are strongly encouraged to secure affordable personal property coverage here. You can reach a broker from Haylor, Freyer, and Coon, Inc. (HF&C) that handles the discounted Stevens plans at 866-535-0456 or [email protected]

Is Spring 2021 housing guaranteed?

Spring 2021 housing is not guaranteed for students not currently residing in Stevens Housing for fall 2020; it will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Fall 2020 on-campus residential students are guaranteed housing for Spring 2021 and will remain in the same room unless alternate arrangements are requested.

What fees are imposed if I cancel my housing for Spring 2021?

If a student cancels their application before they are assigned a room, they will be subject to the $500 non-refundable housing deposit. Once a student is assigned to a room, they may be charged an additional prorated cost of the spring semester housing rate based on the time of cancelation. For more information, please visit the Housing and Dining Policies page.

How do I request a roommate or apartment-mate?

Roommates and apartment-mates can be requested by using the Roommate Management Form found on the myStevens Housing & Dining Page. The Housing ID from each roommate is needed to create the roommate group. If a student is looking for a roommate but does not have one in mind, they may use our roommate matching program, My College Roomie.

If I applied and was assigned to Spring 2020 housing, will I be assigned to the same room and roommates?

We will do our best to accommodate all student requests, but we cannot guarantee that students will have the same housing assignments from Spring 2020.

How do I know if I need to quarantine before the start of the Spring 2021 semester?

If you travel to a ‘hot spot state’ or international location for the Winter Intersession that is listed on New Jersey’s travel advisory, you must quarantine immediately upon your arrival in New Jersey for 14 days. Please note that this list changes often, so be mindful that anywhere you travel away from New Jersey may end up on this list prior to your return to campus. Stevens Residential Education staff will reach out to you based on the information you provide before leaving for Winter Intersession if quarantine is necessary.

Where can I quarantine if required to do so?

Spring 2021 residential students who are required to do so may quarantine on-campus or can locate another quarantine location elsewhere in New Jersey or in another state that is not listed on New Jersey’s travel advisory at the time of quarantine. Some residential students may be able to quarantine in their assigned housing space, while others may need to quarantine in designated quarantine spaces. There is no additional housing charge for students who need to arrive on January 14, 2021 to quarantine on-campus.

How is food provided to students in quarantine?

Stevens Dining delivers food to on-campus residence halls; however, these meals are not included in the Fall or Spring meal plans and must be purchased at an additional cost to the student. Students in quarantine may also accept deliveries from local restaurants and grocery stores.
