Capitalizing on its current momentum, the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology and President Farvardin have set the course for transforming the university into an internationally recognized center of excellence in education, research, and technological innovation.
The President’s Leadership Council, a distinguished cadre of extremely accomplished thought leaders from academe, industry, and the non-profit sectors, has been established to complement and propel the work of the Board of Trustees. Members of this Council will lend their varied perspectives and broad and deep expertise to provide guidance to the President and the Board as they navigate the abundant opportunities and ongoing challenges that lie ahead for the university. The President’s Leadership Council will work alongside President Farvardin with liaison to the Board of Trustees and frequent communication on a broad range of strategic and “over the horizon” issues. Its members serve as advisors, counselors, and guides to the university with the goal of agility and innovation toward significant progress for Stevens.

Claude Canizares is the Bruno Rossi Professor of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At MIT since 1971, he has served as vice president (2013-2015), vice president for research and associate provost (2006-2013), associate provost (2001-2006), and director of the Center for Space Research (1990-2002). He oversaw the MIT Lincoln Laboratory from 2001 to 2014. Professor Canizares is a principal investigator on NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and associate director of its science center. Alan Huffenus is the retired Chairman and CEO of Precision Engineered Products, a manufacturer of surgical instruments and electrical control products with 1,500 employees in 12 facilities in the US, China, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. Mr. Huffenus retired in December 2015 after a 41 year career with the company, where he started as an engineer in 1975. In 1987, Mr. Huffenus was appointed Divisional President of Brainin, a subsidiary of Precision Engineered Products.
