Please review the updates below and follow the links for more information about Stevens’ operations and guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Face Mask Protocols

All faculty, staff, students and visitors are strongly encouraged to wear masks in all indoor, public campus spaces regardless of vaccination status. Exempt and partially vaccinated individuals are required to wear masks in public settings. All individuals may remove their mask in private spaces such as a personal office, residence hall room or an individual restroom. We will continue to closely monitor local COVID-19 transmission rates for masking guidance as reported by the Hoboken Health Department and will provide additional guidance as it becomes available.

Faculty and staff may request that individuals meeting with them in their private office space wear masks; if the individuals do not wish to wear a mask, the meeting may be held virtually. All members of our community should be flexible and respectful when asked to wear a mask. Please note that a masking requirement may be imposed for certain events and occasions in the coming academic year; advance notice of such a requirement will be provided to participants. 

Masks and social distancing requirements will remain in effect for on-campus classes through the summer 2021 terms, regardless of vaccination status. 

Vaccine Requirement: Action Needed

Students: The deadline to submit evidence of COVID-19 vaccine through Workday has now passed. Students who have not yet submitted this documentation should email [email protected] immediately.

Unless immediate action is taken, students without evidence of a COVID-19 vaccine or who do not have an approved exemption will be unenrolled from fall courses and their Stevens DuckCard will be deactivated; residential students will not be permitted to live in Stevens housing. 

Students who are currently in progress towards vaccination but are not yet fully vaccinated, as well as students who are located internationally and having difficulty getting vaccinated, must complete this form immediately to inform Stevens of their plans regarding vaccination.

Fall 2021 Events and Meetings Guidelines

Please use the following guidelines when planning events and meetings for the fall semester:

  • Masks are strongly recommended at all indoor meetings and events for fully vaccinated individuals and required for those with approved exemptions, as well as unvaccinated and partially vaccinated individuals. 
  • Vice Presidents and Deans may determine that participants must wear masks at specific large, indoor meetings and events. 
  • The meeting or event coordinator should give advance notice to participants about a mask requirement and should have masks on hand to provide to attendees without masks.
  • When possible, events and meetings should be scheduled in larger spaces than necessary to accommodate the number of attendees, especially when catering is provided.
  • Outdoor events are encouraged when possible.
  • Student Life staff will work directly with student clubs and organizations to assist with decision-making for student-run events and meetings. 

Third Party Usage of Campus Facilities 

During the Fall 2021 semester, third party usage of campus facilities (i.e. outside rentals) will not be permitted. Additional guidance for the spring semester will be shared as it becomes available.

Update on Stevens COVID-19 Cases

Since the last email on August 10, four students who have not been to campus recently, one staff member who has not been on campus recently, and one staff member who has recently been on campus have tested positive for COVID-19. The individuals who have tested positive are isolating and their close contacts have been notified. We have received 19 test results from on-campus testing conducted from August 9-13 through Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and none were positive.

Weekly COVID Testing: A Requirement for Vaccine Exemptions and Partially Vaccinated Individuals

Weekly COVID-19 testing takes place on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Corcoran Room on the first floor of Gateway North. Any student, faculty or staff coming to campus who are exempt from the vaccine requirement or who are not yet fully vaccinated must participate in weekly COVID-19 testing. Pre-Arrival Test Required for Exempt, Unvaccinated and Partially Vaccinated Individuals Before Returning to Campus for Fall 2021

Students, faculty and staff with an approved exemption from the vaccination requirement or who are partially vaccinated are required to submit a negative COVID-19 viral/diagnostic test result online before returning to campus. This test must be taken within 5 days before returning to campus. COVID-19 antibody tests will not be accepted. Visit the COVID-19 Testing website for more information.

On-Campus COVID-19 Vaccines

Stevens has arranged for Bergen New Bridge Medical Center to offer vaccines at the Student Center for the Stevens community through mid-September. Individuals interested in receiving a vaccine are encouraged to register in advance, but all walk-ins will be accepted. Please visit the On-Campus COVID Vaccination website for specific information including registration instructions and details regarding how to prepare for your vaccination appointment.

Reporting COVID-19 Symptoms and Positive COVID-19 Results

If any student, faculty or staff member experiences COVID-19 symptoms, tests positive for COVID-19, or has close contact with an individual who tests positive for COVID-19, please isolate and immediately contact Stevens Student Health Services at 201-216-5678 or [email protected].
