Subject: Updated Protocols for Wearing Masks Outdoors On Campus and Length of Visits Increased for Short-term Visitors
The CDC has issued new guidance regarding the wearing of masks and last week, Governor Phil Murphy issued Executive Order 241 lifting certain restrictions in the State of New Jersey. Stevens has revised its Health Honor Code and protocols as described below:
Individuals in outdoor spaces on the Stevens campus are no longer required to wear masks, regardless of their ability to maintain six feet of distance from other individuals or groups, and regardless of vaccination status. Stevens encourages individuals who are not yet fully vaccinated to continue to wear masks and also supports individuals who choose to continue to wear masks outdoors. We ask that our community support each other’s individual choices.
Governor Murphy has issued a new Executive Order 242 regarding indoor mask wearing. Stevens is reviewing that order and will communicate any resulting changes to our protocols in the near future. At this time, all students, faculty, staff and visitors must continue to wear masks indoors on the Stevens campus and Stevens-owned or leased properties, subject only to exceptions that previously existed (e.g. while at distanced workstations, while eating or drinking, or while individuals are in their own private offices). At this time, masks must be worn in classrooms as well as research labs.
Visitors to campus must continue to follow all protocols for visitors outlined on the Stevens website and abide by the mask protocols as described in this email. The visitor policy has been revised to allow short-term visitors to come to campus for a full day, following the visitor registration process; in the past visitors were permitted for a maximum of four hours.
Instructions for Undergraduate Admissions visitors have been updated on the Stevens website.
Please note that the Stevens campus is still closed to the public. Only registered visitors as well as faculty, staff and students who are approved to come to campus (for in-person classes and work) for the summer should be on campus. Weekly COVID-19 testing continues to be required for faculty, staff and students who are approved to come to campus and are not yet fully vaccinated. Weekly COVID-19 testing is offered by BNBMC on campus in Walker Gym each Wednesday morning.
Stevens will continue to monitor Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders and communicate changes in our protocols accordingly.
Thank you for continuing to take precautions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and to protect yourselves and members of our community.
