Subject: COVID-19 Updates and Reminders

As the spring 2022 semester draws to a close, we remind you to remain vigilant to protect yourself against COVID-19 and to keep our community safe. Please be aware that the COVID-19 positivity rates in our local area and in many other areas nationally and globally are increasing.

COVID-19 On-Campus Testing Update

Yesterday was the last day of on-campus testing through Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. Those individuals who are exempt are still required to test weekly and submit results online each week by Wednesday at noon. Students, faculty and staff will not be selected for random COVID-19 testing during the summer months.

  • From May 19 – August 27, the only exempt students who are required to submit weekly test results are those who are residing in Stevens Housing, employed by a campus office for an in-person position or who are attending in-person summer classes. Exempt students who are not living or working on campus and who are not enrolled in summer classes do not need to submit weekly test results until after August 27 as fall semester operations resume.
  • Exempt faculty and staff (with the exception of those who are fully remote employees) must continue to submit weekly test results during the summer months.
  • Exempt students may choose to purchase their own at-home test kits or visit a local pharmacy for weekly testing, or they may pick-up at-home test kits provided by Stevens from Student Health Services between 9 am – 4 pm on weekdays.
  • Exempt faculty and staff are responsible for securing their own test kits or visiting a local pharmacy for weekly testing.

Any student, faculty or staff member who experiences symptoms of COVID-19 or who has had a recent exposure to a person who tested positive for COVID-19 may continue to visit Student Health Services (students) or Human Resources (faculty and staff) for a test kit. If you have been exposed or if you test positive for COVID-19, please visit our website for guidance

Masking Updates

Stevens’ policy on masking remains in effect for the summer months. Please remember to wear a mask when you are indoors and unable to practice social distancing, including during class.

For those participating in and attending this year’s Commencement ceremonies, masking will be strongly encouraged. Masks will be available at the ceremonies for use by all participants and guests.

We will continue to monitor CDC guidelines and consult with our local health officials as the pandemic evolves. Should circumstances require a reconsideration of this or any other policy, we reserve the ability to make changes to support the health and well-being of the Stevens community.
