Data science provides a suite of new tools, methodologies, and concepts for thinking about and structuring the world. Businesses and governments see data science as a new way to arrive at better decisions. Contrary to what we might want to believe though, data science alone cannot help us arrive at the best decisions nor can it provide silver bullet solutions. Usual considerations of ethics, justice, fairness, and politics will always need to considered and taken into account. What data science can do though is help make clearer to us the potential implications of our decisions as well as the trade-offs our decisions will entail.
