Stevens Yacht Club and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary are holding a Boat License Class at Stevens.

Upon completion you will receive a "Boating Safety License" from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. This license should be good for the rest of your life.  This class is needed to be able to operate pretty much any type of boat or else you are at risk of getting a hefty fine if caught without it.  As a small aside there used to be a law saying that if you were born before a certain date you did not need to have a boat license. The law has recently changed in NJ (this year actually) and now requires EVERYONE who operates a power boat regardless of your age or previous boating experience to have taken this course. Traditionally you have always needed to have this license to operate a jet ski as well.

Time: 9:00 am

How Long: 8 hours

Fee: $65

Other Requirements: You are going to need to have a valid driver's license from any state in the United States. Your boating safety license can then be presented to DMV and a boat endorsement will be put on your driver's license.
 

How To Register: 

Please mail a check made out to "Stevens Yacht Club" in the amount of $65 and mail it to Sean Payne, Box S-1389, Stevens Institute of Tech., 1 Castle Point on Hudson, Hoboken, NJ 07030.  Please make sure your name is printed somewhere on the check so I can keep track.  If you are paying for multiple family members or others please make sure you include their names on the check as well.

BREAKING NEWS: Stevens Sailing Team took 2nd place overall at The Nittany Lion regatta hosted by Penn State. The 'A' team (Matt Gordon & Jeff Pass) placed first in their division. While the 'B' Team (Ben Testerman & Ron Ehlert) placed second.
