About Women's Resources

Our Mission:

The mission of the Stevens Women's Resources is to increase awareness of and sensitivity to issues facing women in order to build a more supportive, dynamic atmosphere on campus. To provide opportunities for Stevens community members to educate themselves and encourage one another and provide a setting for individuals to share ideas, engage in dialogue, and collaborate on programs. Through programming, students are encouraged to develop their leadership skills and to further their interpersonal, academic, and professional development.

Objectives:

To serve the Stevens community by providing the following resources:

• lounge space for group meetings, studying, watching films, or just meeting up with your friends between classes
• a growing library of books, films and other texts on gender issues and issues of particular concern to women
• information about and referral to local service providers and resources for students, staff, and faculty dealing with gender issues
• website with links to additional resources

To educate students about important topics:

• peer education programs for residence halls and student groups on gender issues such as: body image, sexual assault, sexual health, healthy relationships, and media literacy
• guest lectures on important gender issues concerning both men and women.

To advocate student personal, social, and career development:

• help navigating university policies and procedures on issues like sexual harassment and sexual assault 
• introduce girls and women to engineering and science, to inspire them to pursue technical careers and to promote their success.
