Week 12:
Tuesday 8/9/2003: Tomorrow we will have our weekly meeting at the normal time 10am. Students' weekly reports and Prof. Yan Meng's presentation. Prof. Tewksbury will present awards to outstanding summer research. Around 12pm, we will go to Karma for lunch.
Monday 8/8/2005: All final reports are posted. This Wednesday we will have our last all-hands meeting. Prof. Yan Meng will also give a seminar that day.
Week 11:
Thursday 8/4/2005: Reminder: Final report due tomorrow.
Tuesday 8/2/2005: New photos posted (Cruise, Workshop, Awards).
Week 10:
Tuesday 7/26/2005: Final reports of 10-week students have been posted. Also as you may have expected, tomorrow we will have a very long meeting. This will be the last all-hands meeting for 10-week students.
Week 9:
Monday 7/18/2005: Final report is due this Friday (7/22/2005) for the 10-week program. Please e-mail me your pdf or Word file.
Week 8:
Thursday 7/14/2005: For yesterday's cruise trip, please send me some of the photos you took and I will post on the web site.
Tuesday 7/12/2005: Tomorrow we will have a short meeting/quick reports from everyone. We will also discuss briefly about arrangement getting to airport. We will then go to the lunch cruise.
Week 7:
Thursday 7/7/2005: A research workshop (Powerpoint slides presentations) is set for Week 10. Current presenters include Chris (Prostate research), Hassana (Image feature detection), Husseina (Imaging processing), Jeremiah (Telehealth), Manish (Breast cancer research), Shale (Medical imaging). Anyone else interested in presenting please let me know.
Tuesday 7/5/2005: Format for your final report is posted. This is for your reference only; Please also look into the page about research awards.
Monday 7/4/2005: Happy 4th of July!
Week 6:
Friday 7/1/2005: "Outstanding Summer Research Award": During Week 10 and Week 12, several "Outstanding Summer Research Award" will be given. Students' research will be evaluated based on quality of work, participation of group activities, and quality of final reports.
Thursday 6/30/2005: Photos of Week 4/5/6 are posted, including photos in front of the Broadway theatre.
Week 5:
Tuesday 6/21/2005: At tomorrow's weekly meeting, we will have everyone's weekly report and Prof. Hong Man's seminar. Pizza will be served during the meeting.
Monday 6/20/2005: July 8th we will be visiting Lucent.
Week 4:
Thursday 6/16/2005: (1) This week Friday 3pm we have seminar; Pizza served; (2) 6/29/2005 Broadway show confirmed; (3) 7/13/2005 lunch cruise confirmed. For more info, look into Group Events web page.
Monday 6/13/2005: Trip for a Broadway show is being planned for Wednesday 6/29/2005. Will let you know when it is confirmed.

have weekly meeting tomorrow 10:00am and you need to have something to report.
Week 2:
Wednesday 6/1/2005: Present your first weekly report. Hanyu Li will coordinate the weekly meeting; Prof. Bruce McNair will give the first lecture/seminar.

- Room B213: For security purpose, if you are the last person leaving room B213, please lock the door as you leave. In the morning, if you see the door is locked, please ask Cecilia, Maria, or me to open the door for you.
- Weekly report and final report: You are required to write/post your short weekly report on your web page on or before Tuesday every week. You will then present your weekly report at the Wednesday all-hands meeting. One week before the end of the research program, you are required to submit a final report. The format of the final report will be posted soon.
- Good/productive research experience: I understand that each of you have been assigned a research advisor and all research issues are to be determined between you and your advisor. However, I do want to remind you that a good/productive research experience can only be obtained through hard work. I encourage you come to the lab or B213 to spend a lot time each day on research. I will certainly look forward to reading your weekly report.

- There are several free web servers. http://members.freewebs.com/ is a very good place to setup your web page.
- http://www.tripod.lycos.com/ is another place.
- You may open a yahoo account and get free web space at http://geocities.yahoo.com. See, for example, http://www.geocities.com/ydyao/research.html ;
- Internet connections and PCs are available at Computer Center (Library basement).
