Sara Amitrani
Class of 2008
Chemical Engineering
Working with a nuclear engineering team at Washington Group International, I have become an important
contributor to the design of the systems dealing with the separation and purification of the radiological
waste generated by nuclear power plants. My reports will become the primary documents sent to the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission for approval of the construction and operation of the new power plants. I
am fortunate to have the opportunity to work everyday with engineers who are creating the premier
designs in the nuclear field. I learn incredible amounts of information pertaining to the cutting-edge technologies that are incorporated into nuclear power design.
I now appreciate the years of engineering design and revision and the coordinated efforts of international
engineering teams that go into the production of a final product. I am thrilled to be contributing to the
development of alternative energy source solutions, with the provisions to protect people, as well as
the environment.
