Programming Boot Camp

If you like computer programming, and want to take it all the way, this high-intensity, focused two-week day camp (on-campus housing is not provided) will teach you all the intricacies of high performance C++ graphical coding using OpenGL. Programming Boot Camp is for students who are very enthusiastic about programming, and who are willing to work hard to get a big headstart.

Programming Boot Camp will be held eight hours a day, with other enrichment activities along the way. You will learn object-oriented design and coding techniques, the C++ language in depth, including templates, exception handling, efficiency, and debugging. Then using C++, learn how to read data at very high speed, process it efficiently, and draw it on the screen. OpenGL will be used for the graphical coding, and you will learn how to render 2-D and 3-D surfaces, assign colors and normals to those surfaces, and all the necessary mathematics to correctly display data in three dimensions. The focus is on scientific visualization, but the techniques are applicable to gaming.

Dates: August 4-8 and August 11-15, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
