Directors: DAVID ZIMMERMAN (Director) has worked in professional, regional, educational and community theaters across New Jersey since 1986, totaling well over 100 productions. He has logged hours in every aspect of technical production, but is usually found directing, producing, accompanying or musical directing. Directing highlights include: Little Shop of Horrors, Nunsense, Starmites, Godspell, Smokey Joe's Café, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Forever Plaid. He is thrilled to be back in the director's seat for this production, and thanks the many talented people on stage and behind the scenes who have brought his vision to the stage. |
MEG ZERVOULIS (Musical Director) Meg is an active collaborative musician in Hudson County, NJ and NYC. Off-Broadway: Chuckleball: Jailhouse Jocks (Musical Director, Arranger, and Stage Pianist). Workshops: Kooman and Dimond's Dani Girl in the ASCAP/Disney Workshop with Stephen Schwartz (MD and Pianist). Regional: Papermill Playhouse(Principal Accompanist), New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Ballet, Lenora Nemetz's Cabaret, Carnegie Mellon Schools of Drama and Music, and Wrecking Crew Music (MD). New Jersey: Mile Square Theatre, NJPAC YAI, and WYACT @ NJPAC. Private/Public Faculty: Midori and Friends NYC, Carnegie Mellon Piano Preparatory School, Hoboken, Bayonne, Memorial, and Rutherford high school drama departments, and private home studio in piano, vocal coaching, and music theory. She is also parish music director, cantor, and organist for St. Mary's Church in Bayonne, NJ. Education: Carnegie Mellon University-B.F.A. with University Honors in Piano Performance with minors in conducting, piano pedagogy, and accompanying. Certification in K-12 Music Education with urban specialty. Also, studios of Sergey Schepkin (Bach specialist), John Corrigan (Juilliard) and Dr. Robert Page (Grammy-winning conductor). As a soloist and accompanist, Meg has given major recitals in Memphis, Montauk, Alabama, Pittsburgh, and New York City. This year, Meg will be catalyzing the HudsonJAM Project which will unite urban high school steppers, percussionists, slam poets, and dancers along the Hudson River. Meg aspires to continue a varied career in musical theatre direction, collaborative piano, and music education outreach. She is a member of Local 802 American Federation of Musicians NYC. Cast: LAURA R. BASSETT (Lily) This is Laura's first production with The Theater Company. She is very excited to be performing at DeBaun Center after recently moving to New Jersey. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, Laura holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts summa cum laude in Vocal Performance and a certification for K-12 Music Education. Laura teaches Elementary Vocal Music in the Bayonne Public School District and private studio voice. Opera: Handel's Alcina (Oberto), Carnegie Mellon University; Warren Martin's The True Story of Cinderella, (Step Sister), Undercroft Opera Company, Pittsburgh, PA; Musical Theater: A Chorus Line, Carnegie Mellon University. EMILY BEATTY (Mrs. Winthrop) Emily is thrilled to be working on her third production with DeBaun Center. She most recently appeared in Seussical and Urinetown, the musical. In addition to acting, Emily is a director and teacher at Sunset Park Preparatory in Brooklyn. She received her Master's from Long Island University and her BFA from the Chicago College of the Performing Arts, Roosevelt University. JUSTIN BIRDSONG (Dr. Neville Craven) Justin holds degrees in theatre and voice from the University of Georgia. Previous credits include A New Brain (Astoria Performing Arts Center), The Wild Party (Gallery Players), Rockberry (Brick Theatre Pretentious Festival), Moby Dick Rehearsed (Twenty Feet Productions), and understudy roles for The Constant Couple (Pearl Theatre Company). KELLY BRANDEBURG (Martha) Kelly is very excited to be making her debut at The Theater Company. Some favorite past roles include Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Philia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to The Forum, Joanne in Godspell and Mouse/Bird/Young Frog in A Year with Frog and Toad. Kelly is a recent graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy with a Certificate in Musical Theater Performance; and is currently a student at The New School for General Studies completing her BFA in Musical Theater. Kelly would like to thank her parents for their unfailing support and love as she works towards her dream of performing on Broadway. |
MEGAN BUONO (Dreamer) Megan is thrilled to be returning to DeBaun Center for Performing Arts. She was previously seen in Once on This Island and The Wizard of Oz. In addition, Megan has performed with the Center Players of Bayonne in The Music Man (Marian Paroo), Fiddler on the Roof (Tzeitel), Grease (Sandy), and Oklahoma! (Aunt Eller). She recently graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor of Science degree and works in the pharmaceutical industry. Megan would like to thank her friends and family for all their love and support. |
TOM CARBERRY (Lieutenant Wright) Tom is excited to be making his DeBaun Center debut and his first trip back to the stage since playing the Baker in Into the Woods at the Prescott Park Arts Festival in Portsmouth, NH more than three years ago. He has performed everywhere from Dollywood to Dublin and is happy to have found such an amazing organization here in his own town of Hoboken. A native of Tennessee, Tom is a graduate of Yale University and is currently a Director of Merchandising with the Aeropostale clothing company. LEO DA SILVA (Major Shelley) Leo is happy to be on the DeBaun Center stage again! He was last seen in February as Horton in the Theatre Company's production of Seussical. As a graduate of New Jersey City University, his credits include: West Side Story, The Fantasticks, Evita, …Forum; Merry Wives of Windsor, & Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth. Leo has also performed various operas and operettas such as The Magic Flute, Candide, and Pirates of Penzance. Production & technical credits include Humperdinck's opera Hansel & Gretel, and crew chief on A Chorus Line, Pippin, and Nunsense. AUDREY FEDERICI (Mrs. Medlock) Audrey is pleased make her debut with The Theater Company. She has appeared with the Sarasota Opera Company, Natchez Opera Company, as well as the Connecticut Opera Company. Audrey has been the guest artist with the New School Theatre Program in NYC as well as numerous guest soloist concerts with St. George's Choral Society and the Colonial Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared with the Prague Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, and toured Europe where she was soloist at Notre Dame and Chatres Cathedrals. She was featured with Aprile Milo and Bea Arthur at the celebration of Human Rights at St. John the Divine in NYC. |
ROBERT GONZALES JR. (Fakir) This marks Robert's twelfth appearance with The Theater Company and DeBaun Center. Previous productions: Pippin, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Smokey Joe's Café, Seussical, Urinetown, the musical, Free to Be…You and Me, Schoolhouse Rock Live!, The Fantasticks, Godspell, The One-Armed Man and Summer Cabaret Series. He just recently performed in "An Evening of Cabaret Music" for DeBaun Center's Library Music Series, appearing with Billy Mitchell and Margaret Leone. Off-Broadway: Fools in Love, Tempest Tossed Fools and Kennedy's Children. His most recent New York City appearance was in the new musical KNB-The Musical as part of the NY International Fringe Festival. HEATHER LATTUCA (Rose Lennox) This is Heather's second production of The Secret Garden. She has great memories of performing with her father over 10 years ago in The Secret Garden. Over the summer, she was in Les Miserables at New Bedford Festival Theatre. Most recently, she was a part of a new musical in NYC called Joshua. Other favorites: Titanic, Into the Woods (Rapunzel), A Christmas Carol (Martha Cratchit) and Fiddler on the Roof (Hodel). Education: BA in Theater, University of Massachusetts, Amherst. DOUGLAS LUPO (Colin) The Secret Garden is Douglas' debut on the DeBaun Center stage. Douglas has performed in High School Musical, Cinderella, Oliver and Singin' in the Rain at Bayonne High School. He has also performed in The Arts Factory's production of Disney's Jungle Book and 101 Dalmations. Douglas attends a Musical Theater class at Ms. Huguette's Dance and Theatrical Studio. He has performed in School House Rock and Alice in Wonderland jr. He has also taken acting classes at Kids Love Acting in NYC. He plays Cal Ripkin Baseball, Floor Hockey, BYSA Soccer and Flag Football. Douglas just started the 5th Grade and PS #14 in Bayonne. He hopes to become a Major League Baseball player. Douglas would like to thank his family for their support. |
DANIELLE C. PENNISI (Alice) Danielle is thrilled to be in her second production at DeBaun Center after first appearing in Seussical (Who). She also performed in Follies (Young Heidi) and Titanic (Stewardess/Passenger) with the Montclair Operetta Club. A graduate from Arcadia University, Danielle holds a BFA in Acting and minor in Music. Other credits include: Anton in Show Business (Ralph, Ben, Wikewitch), Godspell (Jeffrey), Electra (Servant), Women and Wallace (Lili), and Once on this Island (TiMoune). LIZA POOR (Mrs. Shelley) Liza is super excited to be back on the DeBaun Center stage after her first appearance as a Who in Seussical. A graduate of Penn State University, Liza recently moved to Hoboken from Los Angeles where she lived and worked for more than a year. Career highlights include Jesus Christ Superstar, Ragtime, and the role of Mazzeppa in Gypsy. She would like to thank her husband Mike, her friends and family. "Shout out to my fave Seussians!" |
MAURICE RICHARD (Ben Weatherstaff) Maurice is happy to be a part of DeBaun Center for Performing Arts' production of The Secret Garden. Maurice has performed in the European tour of Hair, directed by James Rado, and has apprenticed for Meredith Monk in The Politics of Quiet in NYC. Favorite roles have included Joseph in Joseph...Dreamcoat, Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors and Rooster in Annie. |
KENNETH RUTH (Archibald Craven) This is Kenneth's third production with DeBaun Center for Performing Arts after appearing in Into the Woods and Schoolhouse Rock Live! His other New York and New Jersey credits include Cliff in Cabaret, Sterling in Jeffrey, Duke Orsino in Twelfth Night, and Topper K. Rust in Night of the Living Dead: The Musical, for which he won the 2004 Best Supporting Actor Spotlight On award. "Thanks to GT for everything." |
ELIZABETH SHARTS (Dreamer) Elizabeth is excited to be involved in her first production at DeBaun Center. She has most recently been seen as Suzon in 8 Women: A Karaoke Murder Mystery in the East Village and as a member of the tribe in NYU's mainstage production of Hair. Previously she co-wrote and acted in a Grassroots Performance Project called Exposed Brick in NYC's Lower East Side and sang the role of Liza in Blut and Boden at NYU's Gallatin Arts Festival. She graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in 2007. |
LAURA JEAN SMITH (Claire Holmes) Laura is excited to be making her DeBaun Center debut! She was last seen in the new musical 1918: A House Divided at Theater for the New City and prior to this was cast in a favorite role as Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Other past stage credits include: Annie, Neil Simon's The Good Doctor, Carousel and Pirates of Penzance. She recently completed short film, The Maiden Voyage of Jimmy Swash. Laura has done a variety of commercial work over the last few years, including two national spots; "monster.com" and "Bella Wood" (feat. Bob Vila), as well as an HIV PSA, Coke Industrial and just this past spring, a webisode for "DriverTV". She is a graduate of NYU's Steinhardt School where she received a Bachelor of Music in Voice/Music Theater. Laura wishes to thank her loving family and NYC circle for their continued support and understanding. |
RYAN WONNACOTT (Dickon) Ryan is thrilled to be making his debut with The Theater Company! He will receive a Bachelor of Music from Ohio University in 2009. NEIL DINGOW (Captain Albert Lennox) This is Neil's first production at the DeBaun Center for the Performing Arts. He has performed with Ohio Valley Summer Theater in productions such as The Secret Garden, Huck Finn's Story, The Music Man, Ama and the White Crane, and Peter Pan. Neil performed with Ohio University's Lost Flamingo Company in Bat Boy: the Musical, and Urinetown, the musical. Neil has also performed with Ohio University Opera Theater in Comedy on the Bridge and A Mozart Celebration. |
BROOKE DOBOSSY (Mary Lennox) Brooke is a 14 year-old in the ninth grade. She has been acting for 5 years and loves it! Other shows include: Circle of Friends: An American Girls Musical at the American Girl Place Theatre in NY, The New Food Guide Pyramid Musical, The Alchemists A Concert Reading, Annie Jr., Oliver!, The Sound of Music, and The Miracle Worker. ELISE JIMENEZ (Ayah) Elise is thrilled to be making her DeBaun Center debut. Most recently she was a part of the new original musical Richmond: A Musical Fantasia in NYC. Other previous productions include: Chicago, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and West Side Story. She attended The American Musical and Dramatic Academy for her musical theater training and is now taking online classes with Academy of Art University to get her BFA.
