Professor Bernard Skown is
a distinguished faculty member in the Wesley J. Howe
School of Technology Management. Prior to joining
Stevens in 2000, Professor Skown served
as a business executive where he developed an expertise in sales and marketing,
business development, manufacturing, production operations, finance, strategic
planning, and international operations.
During his career Bernard Shown held senior management positions, including Chief
Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and President in mainstream industries
including automotive, machine tool, information systems, publishing, communications,
and national defense.
Today, Professor Skown teaches undergraduates in the Business and Technology
program. He uses his extensive business and management experience as the foundation
for instructing students in courses that include Business Planning, Diagnosing
a Company’s Internal Capabilities, Measuring Customer Satisfaction, and
Business Consulting. He is recognized by his students, his follow faculty members,
and the entire Stevens community as an outstanding teacher and one who is focused
on student success in and outside the classroom. In addition, he has contributed
to the success of the Business and Technology program by taking a prominent role
in developing the Program’s curriculum and securing support from corporate
executives.
Professor Skown is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point
and earned an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the Harvard Business School. |
Professor Linda Vollkommer-Lynch is
a distinguished faculty member and coach who has been
a valued member of the Stevens community since 1973.
Her life long involvement
in fencing, physical education, and commitment to student development, makes
her an asset to Stevens and the community.
Today, Professor Vollkommer-Lynch teaches in the Department of Physical Education
and serves as the Senior Woman Administrator. Since her arrival at Stevens, she
has helped establish athletic programs for women and as a coach she holds the
record for most wins in a single sport. As a faculty member, she was the first
female professor to receive tenure and has received the Distinguished Teaching
Award at both the Associate and Assistant professor rank.
An accomplished fencer both locally and nationally, Linda was inducted into the
New Jersey City University and the Hudson County Athletic Halls of Fame. She
has been recognized by the National Intercollegiate Women’s Fencing Association
as Coach of the Year twice, named the Eastern Women’s Fencing Conference
Coach of the year three times and the New Jersey Collegiate Athletic Administrators
Coach of the Decade for the 80’s.
Linda’s interest in students’ professional and personal development
is demonstrated by advising the Drama Society for past fifteen years and serving
on the DeBaun Renovation Committee and Advisory Board. The relationship between
Stevens and the Macy’s Special Events Studio, producers of the Thanksgiving
Day Parade, is attributed to Linda and her interest in giving Stevens students
the opportunity to participate in a nationally recognized event. Linda’s
dedication to students has been recognized through her induction into the Stevens
chapter of Theta Alpha Phi, National Drama Honor Society and Khoda.
